Be rational, build bonds

“WE cannot deny that sometimes pressures affect the life of some people caused by rapid circumstances such as tension, lack of confidence and some verbal skirmishes which occur from time to time between citizens and some expatriates,” columnist Abdulaziz Khuraibet wrote for Al-Shahed daily.
“These arguments may be sharp criticisms unre- lated to work, but different platforms and social net- working sites are used to put views and criticisms across intended to hurt the dignity of others which peak with accusations of racism and hatred all of which have nothing to do out ethics or our religion or humanity.
“Some comments against the expatriates are hurt- ful – comments such as they are ‘ungrateful’, ‘they eat our food’ and other phrases which may have a negative impact on society in the long run and may even cause us embarrassment at the international level.
“The expatriates in Kuwait came to the country upon contracts, they are sub-
jected to the laws of the land
and no one has done any favor
for them. They are paid for pro- viding services, working for us, taking part in our projects that shall benefit the nation towards progress and prosperity.
prices and hoard goods, to an extent that they even export subsidized items to benefit from the govern- ment subsidy.
“The issue does not end there as one company got allocation for industrial plots for a rent of 100 fils per meter. The company sublets the plots to citizens at KD10 per meter through which it made KD60 million per annum while it pays KD1 million to the government – 100 fils per meter, so it makes a profit of KD59 million.
“When Khalid Al-Roudhan assumed office as su- pervisory minister, the table was turned. He stands on the side of citizens against hoarding by issuing laws that were never issued by any previous minister of commerce and industry in the history of Kuwaiti politics. Most of the former ministers did not even move close to issuing decisions which could pro- voke the ire of traders, but Al-Roudhan issues deci- sions that angers traders and serves the interests of citizens.
“Benefits of the decisions have been manifesting, because it has contributed to reduction in prices of some goods and increased State revenues. Unfortu- nately, the media is unfair to the minister by denying him the right to publish his achievements.”
